We carved the pumpkin last night, which means only one thing: in a couple of days all we're going to have is a rotting carcus of a pumpkin.

it's my birthday

My 39th to be exact. Damn I'm old!

believe it or not it's just me...

Back when TV shows still had theme songs, The Greatest American Hero had the greatest.  The darn tune just sticks with you. And it is so darn catchy, that my kids are now singing it along with me, thanks to our recent family viewings of The Greatest American Hero, Season Two DVD.

I received a copy of Season Two last week and am happy to reveal that I will BLOG FOR FREEBIES.  "Believe it or not" I don't get paid to blog, so I'll take what I can get.  And I am happy to give a shout-out to the folks promoting one of my favorite shows from my childhood.

I was afraid upon viewing that TGAH wouldn't have aged well, but my kids seem to like it.  They are especially drawn to Michael Pare's character. That guy just had amazing presence. It blows my mind that he never made it bigger than Eddie & the Cruisers.

what do donny osmond and a dexter, a serial killer, have in common?

They both provided pleasant surprises to me this weekend.

1) Donny Osmond-  I took my daughter and mother into NYC on Sunday to catch Beauty & the Beast on Broadway. Donny Osmond, as the villanous Gaston, stole the show.  I swear I was hoping the Beast would die and Belle would end up with Gaston. Anytime Donny was on stage the production had energy. Anytime Gaston disappeared, the show lagged.  The actor who played the Beast had the worst line readings of the show, and hurt an otherwise impeccable production.

Afterwards, Donny signed autographs, which thrilled my mother.  I had seen Donny at a signing before, and he is just really nice to his fans. He talks to everyone and is happy to pose for photos. He is a man who appreciates his fans. 

please bring back opening credits and theme songs

Dear TV Execs:

I hate that TV shows no longer carry opening credits set to catchy tunes. I lurve me some good-old fashioned opening credits. It sets the tone for the show and helps my brain switch gears from one show to the next. Plus, I like to SEE the people who are starring in my favorite shows. It comforts me.  And it gives me something to HUM or SING when I'm bored.

good to be lost

Lost is back, which makes me a happy TV-watching girl.  Others complained about the premiere, but I liked it. This is unusual for me, because I am really impatient, and I tend to get bored by long-drawn out storylines/mysteries (I gave up on X-Files after 1.5 years). Oh yeah, I usually HATE flashbacks too. They break up the story's momentum and are generally lame.

Lost is different though -- special. I'm willing to stay for the long, slow ride each week because of the journey is entertaining.  And that is saying a lot. At this point, I don't even really care about uncovering the ultimate mystery of why. I just like watching what unfolds each week.  I enjoy watching the characters develop. And I really love BenHenry Gale - who is so awesome in his creepy Other-way.

now i know "the nine" is going to stink

How do I know? Because the CRITICS love it!  And so far, all the shows that critics have loved -- I have found to be UNWATCHABLE.

UGLY BETTY - hailed as "sweet" and "original" was actually "obnoxious" and a blatant rip-off of "The Devil Wears Prada."  As a half hour show, Betty might slide by, as an hour -- NEVER.  I don't know about you, but my time is too precious to waste.
