I'd say no, it didn't. The worse part is that they had each of the four leads tell us that SIX MONTHS had passed since the lame finale, as if we already didn't know.
Susan: I know Mike has been in a coma for SIX MONTHS but he still could wake up.
Lynette: Do you know how tough these last SIX MONTHS have been on me?
Bree and Gabrielle also mention that SIX MONTHS have passed. What lame writing. Once Susan mentioned Mike was in a coma for six months, WE GET IT. We don't need it repeated THREE OTHER TIMES. This does not show me a sophisticated level of writing that DH claims to have.
BTW: Why would Bree have a problem with Orson's murderous past? She herself let the CREEPY PHARMACIST DIE right in front of her eyes and her SON RAN OVER A WOMAN AND SHE COVERED UP THAT MURDER. I might even say that Bree and Orson are perfect for each other.
The only inspired part of the entire episode is that IT RAINED!! Yes, for the first time ever, Wisteria Lane had WEATHER.
Other than that, the show seems content to repeat itself, right down to the closing shot focusing on a DEAD BODY being uncovered. Have to say that the disappearance of Orson's wife already has me YAWNING. Not breaking any new ground here, I'm afraid.
Unfortunately, DH JUMPED THE SHARK in its first year, and then piled SO MANY DEAD BODIES LAST YEAR, that it doesn't have anywhere to go. It's too late to reign in the implausible murderous storylines and focus on more personal stuff. Let's expect lots of CELEBRITY CAMEOS in the future -- that way we'll know the show really is DOA.
I tolerated DH last year and I'm still hoping for the best. It was entertaining last night. However, I wonder why Bree has the fortune of being engaged to two crazy men within 1 1/2 years of her husband's death. that seems out of character. The one good thing about DH is they don't let a story line fester for too long.
