It was all about making money this Father's Day Weekend.
First, on Friday night, I WON at Texas Hold 'Em. I was on a hot streak. I mean, I COULD NOT LOSE. A nice change since I've lost the last four times we played.
Second, we hit Monmouth Park Race Track on Saturday for a family outing to celebrate Father's Day. And I was hot again. I picked a long shot (merely because the jockey's name was Elvis) and it paid off big (well, for me anyway). Should it worry me that my kids were picking winners, and reading the stats like pros?
Third, we held our moving sale yesterday, on Father's Day, because it was the absolute last FREE day we have before the big move. We put out a lot of stuff, really cheap, since my goal was to get rid of it, rather than make money. In fact, I let the kids keep all the cash (they split it) since they begged to have the garage sale (I would have just thrown out or donated the stuff). I think garage sales are good for teaching kids about recycling -- I want them to know that just because we have no use for something -- it doesn't mean we throw it out and fill up our landfills. Some people's trash is other people's treasure (especially when marked at $2).
All in all, a good weekend. And with all the "celebrating" we did, I stuck to my diet and felt good about it. Hey, I can have fun without stuffing my face with nachos, ice cream, diet coke, and beer. Who knew?
Inspirational about the diet thing. My father would love your approach to "making money" on Fathers' Day--we're giving him an overnight to Vegas for his present :)

I sense a strong string of luck in play. That winning Lotto ticket can't be far behind! Be sure to post the numbers so that we can all share in the joy of hitting...
