sometimes being a bitch is all a woman has or the story of martha

The verdict is in, we've all heard it. Martha is being punished for her lies. 

But I can't help but think that in this sexist, patriarchal society that Martha is being railroaded.  Doesn't it seem like she is being punished for being a bitch, and for being an "uppity woman"?

I personally do not care for Martha Stewart's personality.  I cannot stand the way in which she sells "domesticity" because it is clear she herself (an executive) is repulsed by the domestic life.  I cannot stand that she sells her wares in Kmart because it seems as if she looks down at the typical Kmart shopper.  But all of that aside, she is a smart woman who has built an empire and who does sell some pretty good products at an affordable price.

I also do not feel that Martha should go to jail.  

She's already been stripped of her crown (and millions of dollars) and I feel it is time to let it go. Her biggest mistake of all these past years is that she has made too many enemies - and so many people want to see her go down.

I'd like to see Martha bounce back from all of this. Suddenly, as the underdog, I like her. I will continue buying her products in Kmart and frankly if Kmart severs their ties with Martha Stewart, I would have little use for them. Besides Martha's products, their stuff is sh*tty. I will not buy Martha's magazine though, because I never had much use for that.

If you think that Martha deserves prison for lying, think about this:

1.  George W. lied about Weapons of Mass Destruction, and he was able to get his war.  Actually, George W. apparently lies a lot.  No, he really does.

2.  Roman Polanski, a fugitive from American justice and a convicted felon, won an Academy Award last year.  I know Roman has had a rough life, but he has not stepped up and answered for his crimes.

3.  O.J. Simpson is a free man.

4. Parents continue to send their children to sleepovers at Michael Jackson's house. I'm not saying MJ is guilty of the abuse charges. But, still, as a parent I don't think I would send my child to a sleepover with a 45-year-old man. That's a bit too creepy.

5. The Catholic Church systematically hid decades of sexual abuse by priests and other church employees. Most of these priests were never charged with crimes. And the church protected them with a cloud of silence and even transferred known sex offenders to different unsuspecting parishes.

6. Right now in Iraq, our women in the military are being assaulted by our own soldiers .

7. President Clinton lied on TV to the grand jury and to his wife and to everyone else. There were no real repercussions of his lies.

8. Enron

Anyway, we seem to be made up of a country of liars.  It is only when a woman is a bitch, that the bitch hunt begins. If you want to help Martha, check out this site.

Abso-effing-lutely! I am so sick (and tired) of watching everyone tear Martha to pieces. I don't necessarily relate to the woman's style/definition of Good Living - but I admire the bitch when it comes down to the dog-eat-dog world of business. Impose a fine and allow her lick her wounds, already.
