Got together last night with a group of moms and female filmmaking friends to say goodbye to Sex and the City. We had our Cosmopolitans and talked about how much we'd spend on a pair of shoes.
The last episode was sweet and sad and left most of us wanting more and saying, "Couldn't they give us a whole freaking hour?" There was just too many loose ends they were trying to tie up - and what we all really wanted to see was more face time with Big or should I say "John."
That's right six years later and we finally get to know Big's first name. Yeah, they made it worth the wait.
I still remember the first episode I ever saw of Sex and the City. We were in San Francisco for a friend's wedding and I watched it in the hotel room, thinking that "this thing will never last - it's just too different." Six years later and the show proved it had legs, and lots of shoes. It was nice to see the girls "move on" and find love, family, etc. For a while, I got a bit turned off by the bedhopping. It was just too sleazy, too promiscuous. It lacked real passion or soul.
So it's over and Sundays will not be the same -- well until the opranos season starts. I cannot wait! I love HBO.
