i'll have a little bon jovi with my politics
I guess I can't ignore politics forever. The election is coming and I know that as a country we must oust Georgie Jr. Looks like John Kerry is our only alternative, so I'd better start paying closer attention to what he's talking about.
The one thing the Dems have going for them is Hollywood and rock-and-roll. Ben Affleck is already throwing his support for Kerry and Jon Bon Jovi has been doing his part to help the candidate appear more sexy. Not bad having People Magazine's Sexiest Guys as your opening acts.
Anyway, yesterday my mom told me that Jon Bon Jovi is hosting a fundraiser for John Kerry at his home today, and joked that I should go. O.K. here's the thing, I have a minor crush on Bon Jovi, having seen him in concert twice and also based on the fact that he is a Jersey Boy (who has stayed a Jersey Boy) and he is a sexy father of four and married to his high school sweetheart. So yeah, I definitely would have liked to attend the fundraiser -- and I yelled at my mom for not telling me sooner than the day before the event.
Bon Jovi happens to live in a mega estate in beautiful Navesink NJ and anyone from around these parts of NJ has driven down Navesink River Road many a time, just to check out how the other half lives and to imagine what it would be like to attend a gala at Bon Jovi's estate.
Yesterday, I quickly googled the fundraising event and found out that tickets are $1000 for a "garden reception" and $25,000 for a "private reception." Um, yeah $25,000 -- kind of out of my league. But the $1000 -- could be achieved. After all, it's for a "good cause" -- supporting the anti-Bush presidential candidate and giving me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain entrance into the inner grounds of Bon Jovi's home. I also began to think that it would be excellent fodder for my blog, and thinking like a true blogger, I imagined that I SHOULD go to the event for my fans, so that they too could experience this very important political event.
My mom suggested that we should "drive by" the estate and watch the rich and famous attending the event. But I'm not much of a celebrity stalker. I'd rather be a party-crasher. Oh yeah, and I do have a ton of work to do today so it's not like I can just camp outside Navesink River Road all day. My brother suggested that I rent a boat and cruise up the Navesink River and get some photos of the garden party from a far. I don't exactly have a telephoto paparazzi lens on my little digital camera so I'm not sure I could get any good pictures. Plus I don't know how to drive a boat.
Anyway, I hear they are giving out "press credentials" to bloggers for the Democratic National Convention and I'm wondering if I can get one of those and just cover the political events attended by Hollywood hunks. I probably can't get press credentials in time for today's event, but maybe for the next one. Any political bloggers out there know how I can get my press pass?
I also told my mom to tell me in advance next time she hears about a Bon Jovi fundraiser so that I can raise the money on my blog. I know my loyal and devoted readers would generously donate to my must-meet-Bon-Jovi-cause. You know, because everybody knows how easy it is to make money through blogging.
Oh man, what a story that would have been to read. Are you serious about them giving press passes to bloggers? That is so wild. I'm amazed.

That is real nice. I am sure John appreciates you letting people know exactly what house he lives in.

Stacy: Guess what, when you seek fame and fortune and wanted to be a huge celebrity with a million dollar house, you know going in that you may have to sacrifice a little privacy and millions of fans (if you are lucky)will hopefully be interested in where you live. I'm not a huge fan, but I've probably paid one of Jon's house payments considering all of the concert tickets, CDs, and T-shirts I've purchased over the years.
Jon is a down to earth kind of guy who loves his fans. I'm sure he would be more upset if the day ever came that people DIDN'T care where he lives. It's part of the package hon. Get over it.

From what I was able to dig up, Jon Bon Jovi lives in Sewell on Fox Hollow Lane, but my resource said the street number was undisclosed for privacy.

I don't know what the big deal is about. I live in Red Bank and see Jon all the time. Anyone knows all you have to do is walk around town and you will run into him either in a restuarant, book store or coffee shop. He will sign autographs when asked but people who see him all the time don't ask because to us he is Jon, yes he is famous and yes he is rich BUT he is also one of us and he feels that way too get a life people!
