As a Rutgers alumnus, I just found the following message in my inbox:
For the first time ever, the Rutgers Men's Basketball Team is in a national championship game! Tune your televisions to ESPN on Thursday, April 1, at 7:00 p.m. (EST) to cheer on the Scarlet Knights as they take on the Michigan Wolverines in the 67th Annual National Invitation Tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Holy Bat Crud! Is this a cruel April Fool's joke, or could it be true that our beloved Rutgers is going to a national championship game? O.K. granted it's not the NCAA tournament (just the NIT), but still it's just about the most exciting news Rutgers athletic supporters have ever heard. And good news for Jersey too! Pinch me, because I still don't believe it. I was out late last night, and my husband is out tonight, so I never got to ask him how Rutgers did last night. Actually, I assumed they lost. Can it really be true? Or is this some elaborate April Fool's joke?
